Why can’t I just pay now with a credit card? Why the invoice?
It all came down to a problem with the shipping algorithm. With orders varying in size, shape and number of items, the type of products we offer require a variety of box sizes that the shipping method default was not accommodating. This would greatly throw off the order total. We tried implementing a variable fixed rate but the tables were just not working. Because in its current state there is no way to avoid overcharging for shipping (which we definitely do NOT want to do) we opted to temporarily handle shipping “old school” style. We apologize for the inconvenience, but in the long run it was either go old school or keep orders closed. We are continuing to tweak and test so hopefully it all will be fully operable soon.
Can I cancel my order?
While we hate to see an order go, we understand. As long as you have not yet received an invoice, your order can be caught in time to cancel. Send an email with your order number and reason for cancellation to jennifersomethingart@gmail.com and we’ll do what we can to make things right.
Orders that are ready to be shipped, or have already shipped, cannot be canceled. Special or Custom Orders cannot be canceled, exchanged, or refunded.
Can I make adjustments to my order?
As long as you have not yet received an invoice, your order can be caught and changed in time. Email your order number and adjustment requests to jennifersomethingart@gmail.com. Orders already in painting progress cannot be adjusted. Special or Custom Orders cannot be adjusted after your approval.
Can I include a note with my order?
Absolutely! On the checkout page at the bottom of the ordering field, after the payment method, simply click the little box that says “Add a note to your order”. A field will open up for you to “note” to your heart’s content. 🥰
Do you do custom orders?
Yes! From customizing something you see offered here on the website to an entirely unique one-of piece, whether personalized or based on something you love – let’s talk! Send an email to jennifersomethingart@gmail.com to begin the conversation.
Custom orders require 50% down and remaining 50% due at time of shipping or may be paid in full at time of order. Quotes are available upon request. All custom designs will only proceed upon your approval. No changes after approval. Jennifer can keep in contact with progress if requested. Please allow extra time for custom orders. Custom orders cannot be canceled, exchanged, or refunded.

If my order is a gift, will an invoice be included in the box?
You will receive an invoice for your order via the email you provide. A packing slip will be included in each shipment with pricing and order total added by default. If you need the packing slip to be included for the sake of order accuracy, but not showing pricing or order total, OR if you need the packing slip to be excluded altogether, let us know at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com before the order ships.
Do you offer wholesale?
We’d love to see Ruby Door Designs at your boutique! Some of Jennifer’s products are available for wholesale. Email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com to begin the conversation and access wholesale terms curated specifically for your business.
Do you offer discount or coupon codes?
Not at this time. We are, however, exploring that possibility for the future.
SHIPPING
Why didn’t the cart calculate shipping for my order?
Because technology. 🙄 Heart on our sleeve: the shipping method algorithms were not cooperating with the variety of products sizes we offer, nor would it properly accommodate the local delivery/pickup option on our terms, and the solution to the algorithm shenanigans is rather costly. As we explore our options, the current “old school” set-up is by far the best way we can ensure you won’t be overcharged for shipping.
How much will shipping cost?
We all dislike shipping expenses. (As Ruby Door Designs grows we hope to offer free shipping.) We’ve found most orders ship between $8-$28 without exceeding $35. Our promise: you will not be charged via invoice until you approve the shipping cost.
My shipping address is not the same as my billing address. How can I place my order?
Please indicate a different shipping address in the “Add a note to your order” field at the bottom of the checkout page or email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com with your order number and proper shipping address immediately after placing the order.
When will my order ship?
Upon placing your order, Jennifer will assess how long the order will take to paint and communicate with you to obtain approval of fulfilment time and the shipping options/expense. Upon your approval, we will email you an invoice using Square. Once your payment is approved, your order will ship and you will receive an email with applicable tracking information.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
That’s a tough one to answer definitively. Depending on the size of the order and the amount of detail, orders take time. Each piece is hand painted when your order is placed. Average time to complete some pieces can be 14 business days or more. Custom orders tend to take longer. Upon placing your order, Jennifer will communicate how long the order will take to paint as well as the best shipping method available to get you the greatest deal possible. Once you approve you will receive an invoice. Upon payment approval Jennifer will update you on painting progress and ultimately tracking info. Most orders ship via USPS Priority Mail.
How does local delivery/pickup work? Am I eligible?
Local delivery/pickup is available to anyone in the greater Walworth County (WI) area. (Zip codes include: 53114, 53115, 53120, 53121, 53125, 53128, 53147, 53157, 53176, 53184, 53190, 53191, 53195, and 53585.) If you live in or near this area, or will be in or near this area when your order is fulfilled, and you’d like to save on shipping, simply add “Local delivery/pickup” to the “Add a note to your order” field at the bottom of the checkout page and we’ll communicate halfway point delivery/pickup options upon order fulfillment. Alternatively, you can email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com to make arrangements. *NOTE: in-person home delivery is rare. You will likely be asked to meet somewhere public to ensure safety for all involved.
I’m eligible for local delivery/pickup. Can I pay cash or by check?
All orders “ship” prepaid, including local delivery/pickup. It is preferred you pay by credit card or bank transfer (ACH) via the invoice we email. If arrangements need to made to pay by check, please indicate that in the “Add a note to your order” field at the bottom of the checkout page or email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com and we will discuss potential arrangements. Returned check fee: $35.
I would like to send my order as a gift to my friend/family member. Will you drop ship an order to my friend?
Sure! Gifts are great, so why not? When you place your order, indicate that the order is a gift and the shipping address will be different in the “Add a note to your order” field at the bottom of the checkout page. (Alternatively you can email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com just be sure to include your order number.) We will email you to finalize details on your preferred shipping address and whether or not to include the packing slip and/or a card. Some requests may incur a small fee.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this time. Currently ordering and shipping are exclusively available in the United States.
RETURNS
What is your return policy?
All sales are final and we are not able to process returns. Please review all product photos and descriptions thoroughly before placing your order. Special or Custom Orders are non-refundable and non-returnable.
What should I do if my order has arrived incorrect or damaged?
Please take photos of the incorrect/damaged products you received along with photoes of any damages to the packaging it arrived in. Email us at jennifersomethingart@gmail.com with your name, order number, and a brief description of the issue along with your photos. (Please note: we can only re-send items one time per order.)
IMPORTANT – Before you email, remember: these products are reclaimed materials and found in nature. Finish, size, and condition will vary. Dings, small spots, slight imperfections and the like are not to be considered defective. Small particles of bark will naturally release from certain pieces and should not be considered defective. Slight variance in color or design is the result of the human element – they are hand painted – and should not be considered defective.
Can I cancel/exchange/refund my order?
All sales are final and we cannot cancel, exchange, or refund an order after it has been placed.
PRODUCTS
Are the home decor pieces really all hand painted? Every single one? Wouldn’t they be more expensive?
Yes, each and every home decor piece is hand painted by Jennifer. Every. Single. One. These little one-of pieces are a ministry. It is Jennifer’s desire to make lovely, gallery-worthy designs available for all homes because that’s where MASTERpieces are best enjoyed. (Don’t worry, her more expensive, larger, gallery originals, as well as prints, are also available for purchase.) Because every one is an original, some variances in color and design may occur. This is evidence of hand-painted craftsmanship. Jennifer works very hard to ensure all orders containing multiples of the same design are as similar as possible.
Can I display my Ruby door Designs items outside?
While each piece is spray sealed for basic protection it is NOT at all recommended for outdoor use.
Are the products food safe?
No. Ruby Door Designs items are for decoration only and are NOT food safe.
Where are Ruby Door Designs products made?
All our items are made, obtained and painted in the United States. Our products are made with reclaimed materials from construction project leftovers and what we have found in nature. We are truly at the mercy of whatever is available.
Can you change the saying or color on one of the products?
